Trading Corporation of Pakistan to complete 0.3 million tonnes urea import
   
   

   

In order to avert any shortage of urea in the country, the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) is set to complete its urea import operation of 0.3 million tonnes till mid-August next month, say an official.

   

   

According to the official, Trading Corporation of Pakistan has imported 2,500 tonnes urea so far and the National Fertiliser Marketing Limited (NFML) has lifted the total imported quantity of urea.

   

   

"The Corporation will open another tender for the import of rest of the 50,000 tonnes urea this July 27 so that the urea import operation will be completed till mid-August," said the official.

   

   

TCP is importing Urea in pursuance of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet directives to meet the supply and demand gap of the Urea fertiliser for Kharif season 2012.

   

   

Trading Corporation of Pakistan had awarded tender for import of 0.1 million-tonne urea on May 21, 2012 in response to its international Tender Notice floated on April 18, 2012 for which the TCP awarded import contract at US$522.86 per tonne to the lowest bidder M/s. Gavilon Fertiliser LLC, USA.

   

   

Trading Corporation of Pakistan in response to its Tender Notice opened on June 25, 2012 has awarded contract for import of another 0.1 tonne of urea at US$ 411.77 per tonne to the lowest bidder M/s. Transammonia A.G. Switzerland.
